During the reign of Ahom King Siva Shingha, persons of Brahmin dynasty of Kanouj were brought to Assam. It was at the behest of Maharani Phuleshwari that the famous Brahmin pandit Gaurikanta Bhattacharya of Kanouj had to stay in Hajo and his descendant Ramananda Bhattacharya was offered the responsibility of maintaining the ritualistic routines of Madhav Devalaya along with the administrative management of the temple and its properties. Bhattacharya did not stay in Hajo and settled in this Barnaddi village located at North West from Hajo and continued his rituals confined to the temple. As per the order of the Ahom King, this pandit got about a hundred bighas of land allotted from Madhav Devalaya to set up a temple in Barnaddi and in 1801 he established the temple in this same village and since then Ganesh puja has been celebrated by countless devotees on ganesh chaturthi day of the month of Magh. It may be said that the new pond of Shri Shri Ganesh Devalaya was dug in 1801. Apart from doing various Vedic functions in the service of Ganesha, the customs of water being used in ghots and nectar are still prevalent. The Shiva temple, Vishnu temple, Hanumana's Vigrah and the park adjacent to the temple have become the center of more attraction for many devotees while making a praiseworthy contribution to the outward beauty of the Temple.
