Vishnu is one of the most important gods in the Hindu pantheon and considered a member of the holy trinity (trimurti) of Hinduism with Brahma and Shiva. Bshnu is the Preserver and guardian of men, he protects the order of things (dharma) and he appears on earth in various incarnations (avatars) to fight demons and to maintain cosmic harmony.
According to Puranas, lord Bshnu's wife is goddess Lakshmi. Lord Bihnu's residence is the Ksheer Sea (Ksheer Sagar). Their bed is above Sheshnag. Kamal is produced from his navel, in which Brahma Ji is located. He holds Padma (Kamal) in his lower left hand, Gada (Comodaki) in his lower right hand, Chacha (Panchjanya) in the left hand, and Chakra (Sudarshan) in his right hand above.
A pilgrimage to the Shri Shri Maha Vishnu Dham is considered to be one of the holiest pilgrimages. In the year 1922 some eminent personalities of the society start the Maha Vishnu Yajña . Since the inception every year in the Purnima Tithi of the month Chaita of Assamese calendar(In the month of March-April in English Calender) Maha Vishnu Yajña Mahotsav has been celebrating in the Yajña Dham. At the time of Yajña Mahotsav Hawan, Pujan of Mahabrabhu Mahavishnu are done with a five days long programme. The Yajña Dham attracts thousands of devotees in this period every year. There is Folklore that the devotee who take the darshana of Mahavishnu and pray him with holy heart his all wishes are full fill by the Lord Vishnu.
